Kenneth D. Stieger - County Assessor
KENNETH D. STIEGER
County Assessor

"I want to make Sacramento County a place
where families can afford their own homes …
and businesses can prosper."

Ken Stieger first joined the Sacramento County Assessor’s office in March, 1985, and rose to the position of Assessor on January 1, 1999, following his election in June 1998.

Prior to working in the Assessor’s Office, Ken spent ten years in the land surveying profession. He earned both a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Business from California State University, Sacramento (CSUS).

Ken was born, raised and educated in Sacramento. He met his wife, Jan, while attending CSUS, and they were married in the spring of 1985. Their two children, Nicholas, and Kristen, both attended schools in the San Juan Unified School District.

In addition to his local government service, for the past two decades, Ken has also been giving back to the Sacramento community in a variety ways. His participation in community organizations include:

  • Active member of the Rotary Club of Sacramento since 1996
  • A director on the Alumni Board of California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) 1992-2004, and is a past president of that board
  • Member, Board of Directors for the Hourglass Society
  • Member, Board of Directors for the Friends of Fairytale Town, 1990-2000, and served as president for two years
  • Past active member of Active 20-30 Club #1 of Sacramento, and was the recipient of that organization’s "Man of the Year" award in 1989

As a life-long Sacramento native, Ken Stieger knows Sacramento County and, as Assessor, he pledges to:

  • Ensure that all property will be assessed fairly and in accordance with the law
  • Keep the public informed of its rights and benefits under the law
  • Head an Assessor’s office that is responsive to the public’s needs and sets high-quality customer service as its first priority
