Ownership Information

Inquire about the availability of documents in alternate formats.

Property ownership information by telephone and e-mail is available for up to 3 parcels per contact. You will need to provide the property address or parcel number to obtain ownership information.

Ownership searches by "name only" are not available by telephone or e-mail.

Property ownership can be viewed (in person) at our self-service public information computers located at the Assessor’s Office, 3701 Power Inn Rd, Suite 3000, Sacramento, CA , Monday Through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Staff is available to provide assistance at our General Information counter.

Many records required to be kept or prepared by the Assessor are considered public information and are available for purchase in various formats. View the available list of records and fees visit the Public Information and Access to Assessor's Records web page.

Access to Owners' Confidential Records - The owner of any property (with photo identification) or that owner’s agent (with an original letter of authorization bearing an original signature of the property owner) may view all public and confidential information pertaining to his/her own property at no charge.

Legal Descriptions, Deed and Recording Information

Legal descriptions, deed, and recording information is not available on line through the Assessor's website. Use the following guidelines to help you obtain the information you need through the County Clerk Recorder.

Legal description for a property: The legal description for a property is located on the deed. Deeds and legal descriptions are not available online. The information is available through the County Clerk-Recorder's office at 600 8th Street, Sacramento, CA 95814, Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM, www.ccr.saccounty.net.

Deed and Recording Information: The Clerk-Recorder's office provides an online index of documents recorded in Sacramento County from 1965 to current. You will not be able to view the actual document. You can however view what documents have been recorded. To access the online index use e-ROSI to view the recorded documents index online.
