Business Property Statements May be Filed Electronically For SDR and E-SDR

Inquire about the availability of documents in alternate formats.

SDR is a program designed for businesses that have multiple locations, file property statements in multiple counties throughout California, and requires significant programming on the part of the filer.

E-SDR is a program designed for business owners that typically do not have more than one to five business locations in California.

  1. What is SDR?
SDR is designed largely for businesses that file property statements for multiple locations in multiple counties. SDR was developed by a consortium of California Assessors to increase efficiency.

  2. Who Uses SDR?
Typically larger taxpayers who maintain centralized computer systems for managing reportable assets and filing business property statements in multiple jurisdictions throughout the nation.

  3. How Do I File Business Property Statement(s) using SDR?
Filers wishing to use SDR will need to submit a predefined XML submission containing a record layout that MUST meet a specific set of field sequences. The filer will be required to sign up prior to submission. For detailed information regarding SDR, filing requirements of Sacramento County and what you need to do to register, visit www.calbpsfile.org.

  4. Who Uses E-SDR?
Taxpayers that usually do not have more than one to five locations within California and are filing single property statements for each location is efficient.

  5. How Do I Register to File Using E-SDR?
To learn more or to register for electronic filing please go to www.calbpsfile.org. Follow the links provided on the left side of the SDR site specifically for e-SDR.

Note: Registration will take 24 to 48 hours. Why? Because SDR verifies that you are an approved user. You will receive an e-mail notice when your approval is complete.

If you were not sent a Property Statement for a new location in Sacramento County we cannot issue a BIN number at this time. You’ll need to go to our website to download the 571-L form for that one location. If you prefer to have one sent to you, please contact the Sacramento County Assessor’s Office, Business Property Division at (916) 875-0730 or e-mail PPDutyApr@Saccounty.net.
